56This is the era of advanced materials. Whether it is specialty polymers, composites, or nanomaterials, the interests are growing on demanding applications like space, power, and electronic devices. Not only the high temperature stability but also the material required in these applications needs a combination of physical, chemical, and mechanical properties. Aromatic polybenzimidazoles are one of the high-performance polymers which have drawn attention for research and development. The insolubility of wholly aromatic PBIs in common organic solvents is a big limitation for their processing and industrial uses. Despite the limitation, the outstanding properties of PBIs attract the researcher to investigate their use in gas separation, pervaporation, and polymer electrolyte membranes in fuel cell applications.
