ABSTRACT

252Three Schiff base ligands, namely, 6,6′-(1E,1′E)-[1,2-phenylenebis(azan-1-yl-1-ylidene)]bis(methan-1-yl-1-ylidene)bis(2-methoxyphenol) (L1), 6,6′-(1E,1′E)-[1,3-phenylenebis(azan-1-yl-1-ylidene)]bis(methan-1-yl-1-ylidene)bis(2-methoxyphenol) (L2), and 6,6′-(1E,1′E)-[1,4-phenylenebis (azan-1-yl-1-ylidene)]bis(methan-1-yl-1-ylidene)bis(2-methoxyphenol) (L3) have been successfully synthesized using reflux condensation method. These ligands were analyzed using impedance measurements and optical properties for conductivity studies. Ligand L1 derived from o-phenylenediamine has higher conductivity value due to the presence of electron donating group and position of nitrogen donor atom in the structure.
