Yoga has received remarkable acceptance during past few years and millions of people are practicing yoga on regular basis. Developed over 5000 years ago, yoga has undergone many transformations to develop into a polished form. Yoga is more than practicing certain postures to attain physical stability. Yoga is a group of practices that allows person to be self- disciplined and to attain an unwavering mind. The wealth of a nation is its healthy population. In today’s world, where lifestyle disorders have become more prominent due to stress and fast foods, yoga helps to attain a balance between physical and mental states of a human being. This chapter portrays different types of yogic postures and their significance.
