ABSTRACT

This chapter provides an overview about vehicular networks and related technologies. It describes the computational intelligence methods used in this study, introduces the multi-objective optimization concept, and describes the three Multi-Objective Evolutionary Algorithm (MOEAs) applied to solve the RSU-DP. The chapter presents and formulates the multi-objective RSU-DP addressed in this work and reviews related studies solving different versions of the RSU infrastructure design problem. It details the specific implementation of the evaluated MOEAs to efficiently tackle the RSU-DP. The chapter describes the greedy algorithms used as baseline RSU-DP solvers for comparing the results obtained by the proposed MOEAs, and reports the experimental analysis of the proposed methods on a set of different instances defined using real-world data. Finally, it states the conclusions and describes the main lines for future work.
