ABSTRACT
In the past decade, the global market has witnessed a rapid increase in the availability of wireless devices, which has greatly boosted their applications. This has created a huge demand in developing several innovations for optimized utilization of sparse capacity of the wireless networks, especially in the license-free bands. The major challenges faced by wireless networks include underutilization, wastage of bandwidth, and allocation of spectrum. Cognitive radio (CR) technology equipped with software-dened radio (SDR) aims to address these challenges by utilizing the scarce and limited natural resources efciently without causing excessive interference to the ofcial band users [1].
