ABSTRACT

Renewable energy should be looked at as the most important instrument for the socioeconomic development, eradication of poverty and unemployment, and an instrument of rural development. Only two natural resources have the capability for long-term energetic survival of humanity, namely: solar energy and nuclear energy. Solar thermal energy is a technology for harnessing solar energy for thermal energy. Solar energy may be either used directly as heat photovoltaic power or used indirectly through hydro, wind, biomass, and so on. Modern solar thermal technologies are reliable, efficient, and absolutely safe, and can be successfully applied to a broad range of heat demand including domestic water heating, space heating, and drying. Domestic water heating is currently by far the largest application for solar thermal in Europe. The Solar Keymark is the quality label for solar thermal products in Europe.
