ABSTRACT

The circulation of air in the atmosphere is caused by heating of the Earth’s surface at different locations, due to variation in Earth’s temperature wind is generated. Wind energy can play a critical role in saving our planet from the negative effects of energy powered by fossil fuels. The energy removed from the wind is converted into mechanical energy that is used to drive an electrical generator and is then converted into electrical energy. At present, requirement of energy per person is increasing with a higher rate due to many reasons such as change of lifestyle, rapid industrialization, change of climate, and so on. Energy security is becoming increasingly difficult due to limited nonrenewable energy sources. Government policy is being regularly updated for the smooth development of wind energy. The chapter explores the wind power capacity installation in different countries. It presents two case studies on wind power generation.
