ABSTRACT

American Productivity and Quality Center (APQC) describes best practices that could accelerate implementation of knowledge management (KM) in the pharmaceutical industry. Industries ranging from oil and gas to professional services have spent the past two decades building effective enterprise KM capabilities and learning what it takes to sustain activity and value over the long term. Proven practices and methods can be readily adopted to help organizations accelerate their efforts and standardize how knowledge moves through and enables their business processes. APQC's research provides ample evidence of the pharmaceutical industry's stalled progress on the road to KM maturity. The assessment process allows KM teams to reflect on their progress and prioritize improvement opportunities, but the aggregated data also reveals trends in KM program development. APQC helps organizations work smarter, faster, and with greater confidence. It is the world's foremost authority in benchmarking, best practices, process and performance improvement, and knowledge management.
