ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT In this chapter, we discuss recent calibration methodology developments for self-healing circuits and systems. Self-healing circuits and systems provide a means for performance and reliability enhancement in the presence of various degradation mechanisms, from deep submicron effects to harsh operating environments. The resulting self-healing calibration problem, however, may be difficult to solve with naive convex optimisation approaches, or may require relatively high complexity that comes along with global optimisation strategies. In this work, we adapt direct search optimisation algorithms to efficiently and effectively solve practical self-healing problems, and several test cases are used to demonstrate their efficacy. Future research directions are also discussed.
