ABSTRACT

Many authors have proposed the use of fuzzy analytic hierarchy process (FAHP) in combination with other methods and techniques, to generate new integrated multicriteria decision and evaluation methods. Among them, the Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) is, by far, the most frequently multicriteria decision analysis method used in combination with FAHP. This chapter presents an overview of the implementation of multicriteria decision-making (MCDM) methods based on the integration of FAHP and TOPSIS, demonstrating its advantages. Additionally, we present a new method that incorporates the variable weights analysis (VWA) to implement the adaption of evaluation weights, a very useful feature for those evaluation models in which the evaluation formulas have to be fixed in advance.
