ABSTRACT

In an increasing number of abuse cases with a factitious disorder by proxy (FDP) factor and in some adult factitious disorder (FD) false accusation cases, the element of fire has been identified. Often, more than one fire is found to have occurred during the FD/FDP offender’s lifetime. These fires are generally not immediately associated with death causation of FDP victims or significant human injury but are increasingly recognized as a significant factor within an overall potential FDP investigative behavioral analysis.
