ABSTRACT

Introduction With 2500 peer-reviewed articles and numerous books on the topic of psychopathy, any attempt at an exhaustive review of the disorder here would be impossible. Rather, in this chapter, we provide a brief overview of the history of the term and construct, etiology, diagnostic instruments, typologies, characteristics, and treatment. Our objective is to equip law enforcement and mental health professionals with knowledge that is practically applicable during the investigation, interviewing, criminal justice, and treatment processes.
