ABSTRACT

The scope of our chapter is to review health, safety, environment, and quality (HSEQ) management models based on both the literature and the empirical contexts. A model used for HSEQ assessment has been developed and applied within many Finnish company networks, especially in the process, other manufacturing, and energy industries. Further, our main emphasis of the review is to examine the role of small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and even microenterprises as partners in networks. Especially, we focus on their work systems (WSs) with outcomes, their HSEQ assessment results, and the concepts of sustainability and safety culture.
