ABSTRACT

Shape memory materials (SMMs) belong to the family of smart materials, which is attributed to their ability to memorize the permanent shape after being deformed and fixed into a temporary one, and consequently, showing recovery by the application of an external stimulus. This phenomenon is termed shape memory effect (SME). A simple illustration is viewed in Figure 13.1.
