ABSTRACT
Abstract Recent work on the neurobiology of imitation in autism investigated early on decits in the mirror neuron systems. This research also generated a number of criticisms. This chapter discussed this literature and concludes by reviewing more recent studies that focus on the complex interplay between imitation and its control. This more recent work promises to provide clues on potential interventions in autism that are tailored to the individual patients.
