ABSTRACT

Xenobiotic elimination is a complex process that is governed by the chemical ux into an organ, followed by efux back to the circulation, cellular metabolism, and excretion (Pang et al., 2009). Regarding the physiological and molecular mechanisms for this process, much information has been gathered in the past ve decades. New breakthroughs encompassing biochemistry, molecular biology, genetics, and the steady growth in the “omics” sciences have been supported by modern technologies for a better insight into the way organisms face harmful molecules.
