Certainly, heavy-duty handling gloves are rarely needed and certainly should not be immediately reached for unless the particular ferret is known to be difcult to handle, or the owner specically advises it. In the UK, this is usually for certain working ferrets, especially wild polecat crosses. If gloves are used to capture the animal they should be discarded once the animal is restrained – bare hands are much more sensitive than gloves when handling.
