ABSTRACT

Disorders of the gastrointestinal (GI) system are frequently observed in ferrets, particularly foreign bodies and chronic gastroenteritis. The intestine of the ferret is a particularly reactive organ, and tends to develop a signicant inammatory response in front of a variety of causes. Veterinarians should be aware of the GI diseases affecting ferrets and should know how to work-up two of the main symptoms observed: vomiting and diarrhoea.
