ABSTRACT
There are few primary diseases that affect the nervous system of ferrets but secondary problems need to be addressed, particularly as systemic illness has an impact on the nervous system. Historical questions should be similar to those for other mammals and include, but are not limited to: rabies and/ or distemper vaccination history, onset of clinical signs, exposure to potential toxins such as lead or insecticides, treatment for concurrent illness and if other pets in the household are affected.
