ABSTRACT
Communication technologies and data management play an important role in smart microgrids. These technologies help to place a layer of intelligence over a microgrid’s infrastructure, thereby allowing command and control applications to operate and engage with the microgrid’s assets. In fact, the convergence of communication technology and IT with a power system is what makes a microgrid smart or intelligent, enabling a host of fundamental applications to emerge.
