ABSTRACT
The concept of CoORdination of INformation on the Environment (CORINE) Land Cover (CLC) nomenclature is mentioned in the CLC Technical Guide (Heymann et al., 1994: 25). The most important concept is the arrangement of landscape objects into groups on the basis of their relationships according to Figure 3.1 (cf. McConnell and Moran, 2001) and a certain number of requirements:
• It must be possible to identify all European Community territory; no “unclassified land” is admissible.
