ABSTRACT

CoORdination of Information on the Environment (CORINE) Land Cover (CLC) data are an excellent carrier and mediator of the variety of European landscapes and, of course, an original information source about natural but also modified (cultivated) and artificial (created by humans) landscape structures and objects. Information potential of CLC data is enhanced by the compatibility of their content and the fact that they represent an almost 25-year period (Feranec et al., 2012). The aim of this chapter is to offer an overview of the geographical distribution of 44 CLC classes, their dominant representation in the European countries, as well as the summarized areas in four time horizons: 1990, 2000, 2006, and 2012.
