ABSTRACT
INTRODUCTION The scar is the result of various chronologically related biological events that comprise two key moments: cell regeneration and connective tissue replacement. These two phases differ on the phylogenetically acquired capacity of each tissue to repair, and on the external events that may interfere with the scarring process.
