ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT This chapter reviews the incidence, costs, and factors associated with slips, trips, and falls among firefighters. There are known extrinsic factors associated with firefighter injuries that result from slips, trips, and falls, including issues with the protective ensemble and the firefighting environment. Individual characteristics such as firefighter age, fitness, and body habitus may influence the risk of suffering a slip, trip, or fall and are primary areas for future investigation.
