ABSTRACT

A prototype system for monitoring landslide and subsidence has been developed within the framework of “Wi-GIM: Wireless sensor network for ground instability monitoring” LIFE+ European project. It is based on a WSN architecture integrating ultra-wide band and continuous wave radar technologies to locate the position of sensor nodes installed on the site. These continuous measurements allow for the realization of 3D displacement maps produced by the deformation of the mesh constituted by the sensor network. In field experimentation is expected to begin in 2016 after the end of the development phase.
