ABSTRACT

In order to study the failure mechanism of Suo’ertou landslide in natural state, its deformed portions locked by other segments were selected as a targeted subject for centrifugal model test. In the tests, trailing ball was added in the rear edge and slope was trimmed in the front, which were to ensure the consistency of stress-strain pattern between in lab and in situ. By examining the collected test records, such as soil pressures, pore pressures and displacements, it confirmed the model was broken in the case as subjected to an acceleration of gravity at 250 g. The discrepancy in their deformations at three positions were small, and the deformations would gradually decrease with downward variation in depths beneath slope ground. It infers that the failure of the model is a mainly joint propellant slide moving.
