ABSTRACT

In Quebec, Norway and Sweden, postglacial deposits of sensitive clays are often located in remote and densely populated areas where heavy construction activities take place. Blasting effects on sensitive clays are not well understood yet, but it is known to be a triggering factor for landslides. This paper presents 13 probably blast triggered landslides in sensitive clay slopes. Five slides are described in a more detailed way (Hawkesbury (1955), Toulnustouc (1962), Finneidfjord (1996), Kattmarka (2009) and La Romaine (2009)).
