ABSTRACT

The fault zone is located in a gold mine in the eastern part of China, which is 1500 m long in the mining area. It strikes 290°∼300° with a dip of nearly 90° and an average thickness of about 10-25 m. Long-term persistence of groundwater in the fracture zone deteriorates the physical and mechanical properties of the rock and fault gouge. The mechanical properties of the broken pieces deteriorate too, which threats the safety of mining activities.
