ABSTRACT

The shape function of an infinite element has a great influence on the calculation accuracy. To improve the computing speed and accuracy, in this paper, a decay shape function is used to better simulate the actual decay characteristics of the electromagnetic field. The calculation results under different conditions are compared and analyzed, including different decay lengths, different numbers of grid layer of the infinite element, and different calculation methods. Taking into consideration the computing time and calculation error, the optimum decay length and the number of grid layers are determined. When the decay shape function is used, the calculation error is reduced to 1/7 of the origin shape function, and the calculation efficiency is the same as that of the origin shape function; that is, the calculation accuracy is greatly improved.
