ABSTRACT

The density of the buildings in Indian cities has become higher and higher due to the social and economic evolution. It will make a great impact on the ecological environment leading to the climatic changes, deteriorating weather conditions, depletion of resources, and lowering down of public hygiene. For sustainable building constructions, it is important to avoid construction methods which negatively affects the environment and results in increasing the pollution. Therefore, the green building becomes a significant factor. This study evaluates the green building attributes by entropy method and ranks them as per their impact on the environment. The ranking is performed by a procedure based on the Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution. Based on the analysis, the study finds out five prominent attributes in green building rating system for India. These are indoor air quality, water recycle, and the cost of investment, daylight, and water pollution.
