ABSTRACT

Despite a great interest for the use of life-cycle cost (LCC) in order to promote sustainability while choosing the optimal solution, it is hard to observe LCC in practical use in the construction industry. The major objective of this research is to explore the use, or lack of use, of LCC in building projects. Building projects in Norway are used as examples. Integrated Design and Delivery Solutions (IDDS) is the theoretical framework used to explain relevant aspects. IDDS promotes a holistic approach relying on; Interoperable Technologies, Collaborating People and Integrated Processes. Experiences from this study indicate that there is a r eal potential for improvement can be achieved by increase of the integration between Integrated Processes, Collaborating People and Interoperable Technology
