ABSTRACT

A calculation method of flexural capacity of corroded reinforced concrete beams was presented by comparing the corroded beams with the normal ones. In the calculation method, the reduction of the concrete strength and the steel bar cross-sectional area are taken into account. Meanwhile, the bond strength degradation between steel bar and concrete is considered by means of the steel bar strain hysteresis coefficient. By collecting and analyzing 77 groups test data of corroded beams under bending moment, the relationship between the steel bar strain hysteresis coefficient and corrosion rate is established. According to this relation-ship, the flexural capacity of corroded beams with corrosion rate less than 8 % can be predicted accurately.
