ABSTRACT

The monitoring and evaluation of bridge long-term performance are essential task for bridge management. Idea of continuous and real time monitoring has been applied known as bridge health monitoring system (bHMS). Large data are gained to reflect the condition of bridge by techniques. For middle and small span bridges, a more practical way of monitoring is needed. In this paper, the monitoring work of a 58m symmetric inclined arch bridge is introduced. Instead of applying bHMS, an intermit monitoring combined with visual inspection and load test are grouped together to assure the safe condition of the bridge. Much less data are gained through intermit monitoring and integrative monitoring. The results indicate it is a more practical way to monitor and evaluate the long-term performance of bridges.
