ABSTRACT

The problem in the construction industry is that most of the time the construction costs are the only decision criteria in the procurement and the potential for the economic optimum over the life time left behind. This paper analyzes different heating boilers concerning their efficiency and cost effectiveness. The calculation method is based on the approach of the Directive guideline VDI 4703. The result shows that the efficiency has an impact on the life-cycle cost, especially for cases with a higher energy demand and that the approach supplies a transparent ranking. Furthermore, the impact of the different input parameters is investi-gated by sensitivity analyzes. Therefore, typical bandwidths of the parameters were defined and the variances show that the parameters with the highest impact have to be defined from the principal and that the choice of parameters should be precise. The approach allows life-cycle cost procurement.
