ABSTRACT

The spatial variability of the soil saturated permeability coefficient and the time variation of rainfall have great influence on the slope stability under the rainfall condition. In the present paper, based on the random field theory and unsaturated seepage theory, the process of rainfall infiltration in a hypothetical specific slope is simulated and the influence of the spatial variability of the soil saturated permeability coefficient and the rainfall intensity on the slope safety factor is studied. According to the results, the rainfall intensity and the infiltration duration have influence on the shape, location and the safety factor of the slope slide. The critical rainfall intensity is related to the saturated permeability. The fluctuations of vertical scale of soil saturated hydraulic permeability have great effects on the slope stability.
