ABSTRACT

Hydraulic structures are long-living infrastructure assets and need to be verified due to different reasons. The verification according codes which are provided for the design of new structures is not satisfying because the safety cannot be proofed. A method has been developed to determine the reliability as time-dependent safety for the remaining lifetime. This method, called remaining lifetime concept, is based on the design concept of the Eurocodes which is a reliability-based design procedure. Main issue of the methodology is an adaption of the reliability index β and furthermore on-site investigations to clarify action and resistance values of the structure. The actions water pressure and self-weight and the resistance concrete strength are described.
