ABSTRACT

The Building Information Modeling (BIM) creates new opportunities for advanced collaboration and project coordination to develop building design solutions-documentation and construction processes. By comparing global BIM development with local context, this paper outlines the benefits, enablers and barriers associated with its role in Kosovo, to makes suggestions about how BIM issues may be addressed towards sustainable development and better asset performance over the life-cycle. As a result, adaption of BIM creates a rapid clip in both regional and local context, becoming a well-known established tool into the process bidding, pre-construction, construction and post construction phases for Architectural, Engineering and Construction (AEC) industry. BIM as a minimum tool in near future, starting from institutions, owners and/or end users, shall be introduced and required by Kosovo Government Laws.
