ABSTRACT
Consultations with children and young people were undertaken in relation to each of the seven module components of the Children's National Service Framework (NSF), as it was put together. The National Children's Bureau also runs a young people's involvement and consultation project in teenage pregnancy policy, with a young people's forum and targeted consultations, which have informed the healthy child and young person perspectives in the NSF. In social care, the government has created teams of young inspectors to undertake children's services inspections with the SSI. people can involve children and young people as active partners in making decisions about their healthcare. A further step that could be used by practices such as this would be to invite teenagers to contribute comments and suggestions about their services and plans. Most of all, primary care trusts can encourage a patient and public involvement culture with a child/young person focus.
