ABSTRACT
In recent years, significant strides have been made in all areas of pain management—including new treatment techniques, improved pain medications, and a better understanding of pain transmission. However, residents in Care Homes still suffer unnecessary pain. The ethical obligation to manage pain and to relieve suffering should be at the core of the nurse’s practice (AHCPR 1992).
