ABSTRACT

The impetus to address the need of boys for sex education came in part from a change in the way that Bradford organised its school education system following the reorganisation of schools in the local education authority in September 1999. Giving personal information is of course possible but must be done in such a way that indicates your understanding of the dilemmas faced by young men without being personal. Body language books talk about how people who are becoming interested in each other or in harmony or empathy adopt the same postures e.g. crossing the same leg, holding their heads at the same angle. The personal, social and health education curriculum offers the opportunity to create a planned programme of teaching and activities focussing on the emotional development of boys. Of course, it's the physical side of sex that overtly attracts boys and which they raise in the classroom.
