ABSTRACT

The basement of the Edwardian stone library is The Riverside Community Health Project. A bright, welcoming place full of children, children's artwork and animated people. The main focus of the project's work is the general field of health and well being. However, its commitment to a social model of health means that its work inevitably extends into areas of concern, such as housing policy and income maintenance. This chapter focuses on work the author was doing with people at Riverside - reflective practice writing for professional development. The staff at Riverside Centre, many of whom live in the area, help Rahima, K and D and many others in so many ways. 'There is no real dividing line between the life of the community and the life of the Riverside Project, people work is about everyday lived experience.
