The Flower 125 Health Club is a multi-agency initiative for young people. It aims to improve the health profile of local young people, to raise confidence and self-esteem and to help these individuals to develop an increased knowledge about health. Established in March 1998 the project initially involved a health promotion specialist, a practice nurse, a learning mentor, and an independent drama facilitator. Many of the young people were known to the practice nurse, and it was important not to let their reputation influence it negatively. In the new agenda for tackling health and inequalities, partnership at a local level is seen as the key to success in improving health. Young people recognised what the staff were doing and the group began using the model on their own. Drama was used to help explore some of the issues raised in the workshops.
