ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the uses of telehealth technology, specifically videoconferencing, for the delivery of interdisciplinary treatment to children with feeding and nutrition problems. It presents telehealth technologies as an alternative treatment model that would increase access to feeding specialists and to interdisciplinary feeding clinics. The chapter also presents technical considerations for starting and maintaining a successful telehealth clinic. It investigates a study of an active telehealth feeding program including estimates of treatment efficacy and interpersonal/therapeutic alliance effects. The chapter also focuses on the considerations of potential barriers to optimal treatment by way of telehealth. Feeding a child is one of the most fundamental and indispensable care-giving tasks associated with parenting. In the treatment of feeding problems, clinicians might take advantage of a variety of telehealth technologies in the provision of services to the family. To ensure the success of a telehealth feeding program, there should be a telehealth clinic coordinator.
