ABSTRACT

A2 C Repair of pectus excavatum prior to pubescence is not ideal because of the fact that most patients will outgrow the bar as they go through puberty. Repair of pectus excavatum after puberty is not ideal because the patient’s chest begins to develop less compliance. Watching the patient’s growth trajectory during the ages 11-14 years will typically allow for a time frame that is more optimal for pectus repair via the minimally invasive technique.
