ABSTRACT
Euthanasia, which literally means “good death,” has been defined as active intervention to end a patient’s life.1 A UK House of Lords Select Committee on Medical Ethics has defined euthanasia as “a deliberate intervention undertaken with the express intention of ending a life, to relieve intractable suffering.”2
