ABSTRACT
Introduction Every Tuesday night, John stopped by his mom’s place on the way home from work. John and Maggie enjoyed their weekly routine of sharing dinner and the day’s stories and then watching television. On this Tuesday evening, during a commercial break, Maggie stood up and walked into a wall. John called to his mother. But Maggie, dazed and wobbly, didn’t respond. She shook her head, turned and walked across the room into a different wall. Again, she shook it off, backed up, and walked into another wall, unaware of her son’s cries for help. Maggie was having a massive stroke. When the ambulance arrived, Maggie resisted with all her strength and begged her son, “No doctors. No doctors.”
