ABSTRACT

Pulmonary rehabilitation (PR) is a recognised method of treatment for people with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The British Thoracic Society (BTS) Guidelines for PR, published in 2013, state that PR is an interdisciplinary programme of care for patients with chronic respiratory impairment (Bolton et  al., 2013). This is predominantly COPD. However, research has demonstrated measured benefits in other respiratory diseases (Newall et al., 2005; Nishiyama et al., 2008; Holland et al., 2012).
