ABSTRACT

The experiment was conducted at an Experimental Farm (Green House) at Faculty of Agriculture, Winaya Mukti University, Sumedang regency with altitude of 850 above sea level (asl). The experiment was conducted from January to September 2015. The research was conducted to produce breeder seed potatoes G0 in aeroponics with attention to the provision of a spacing and chitosan. The experimental design used was a randomized block design Factorial Pattern consisting of two factors and repeated three replications. The first factor is the planting distance consist of three levels of treatment, namely j0 (10 cm × 10 cm), j1 (10 cm × 20 cm), and j2 (20 cm × 20 cm). The second factor is the concentration of chitosan consisting of the following five levels of treatment; c0 (chitosan 0 mg.L−1), c1 (chitosan 10 mg.L−1), c2 (chitosan 20 mg.L−1), c3 (chitosan 30 mg.L−1), and c4 (chitosan 40 mg.L−1). The experimental results showed that the interaction between the planting distances with concentrations of chitosan against tuber number of potential, the number of tubers formed, tuber fresh weight and number of buds. For further practice, it is recommended to use a spacing of 20 cm × 20 cm with 40 mg.L−1 application of chitosan. However further observation is needed in terms of wider planting distance and applying chitosan on rooting section.
