ABSTRACT

This study is aimed at investigating the conformity of curriculum implemented by higher tourism education to the qualification framework. The Curriculum of Resort & Leisure Management Department at Indonesia University of Education is selected as the subject of the research due to its easy access and authors’ advance understanding about the idea and the content of the curriculum. The results show that the curriculum is rather consecutive than concurrent. Several inconsistencies were found between curriculum and its implementations especially when compared to the qualification framework. This could bring disadvantages when facing working competition in the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) era. Concurrent curriculum should prepare higher tourism education graduates to be ready and meet the qualification framework.
