ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: This article deals with laboratory verification of a rubber granulate obtained from recycling the tires in the track substructure. The main idea of testing the rubber granulate in a subgrade layer was to verify its influence to parameters of the track substructure. The observed parameters included load-bearing capacity, vertical deformation, frost protection of subgrade surface and its permeability. This paper describes the specification of the rubber granulate origin as well as the geotechnical characteristics. There is the process of construction of the geotechnical models M1 and M2 in an experimental box described and the laboratory tests performed on layers. The conclusion of this article is based on comparison of two different types of geotechnical models with the rubber granulate - one with separate layer and one with mixture of the rubber granulate and crushed stone. The results of load-bearing capacity and the deformation are presented as the main contribution of this paper.
